We always claim that our products offer premium protection for your valuable decks and collection. We do this because we are convinced of the quality of each and every product in our portfolio, as we test them long and thoroughly before releasing anything to market.
That being said, we are always amazed at the incredible situations our products have already proven themselves in. In all the years that Ultimate Guard has now been part of the trading card community, we have received some crazy and almost unbelievable stories.
On Friday, March 3, 2017, Leida was driving to her boyfriend's house when she drove over a patch of black ice and lost control of her car. Fortunately, Leida was not seriously injured, but her car burned out completely. The next morning, all that was left was a burnt out car, a badly damaged MTG collection including a burned Twin Flip'n'Tray deck box. But inside the box Leida found her two decks completely intact! Check the photos for the full story.
Another incident involving a car and fire was the story of James, who was in his car when it suddenly started to burn. He quickly jumped out of the car, but forgot his backpack with his MTG collection in it. Fortunately, no one was hurt, but the car and the collection burned down.
After the fire was extinguished, James was able to find his Ultimate Guard deck box in the remains of the car, which had survived the fire.
At least his beloved Mono Red Burn Deck survived the fire. That can’t be a coincidence, right?
In late 2019, we received the story of Josh and Julie, a couple who were preparing for their wedding when their home caught fire and burned down. Fortunately, no one was hurt, but they lost all their belongings.
As they searched through the rubble, they came across the Sidewinder deck box from Josh's MTG collection. They couldn't believe it, but the cards had survived the fire almost unscathed! A little "diamond in the rough" as they called it.
Thanks again to Josh and Julie for sharing their story with us. We are relieved that everything happened without injury and the wedding could still take place!
Apparently, fire is not the only danger beloved trading cards are exposed to. But don't worry, our Sidewinder boxes can even withstand the attacks of a hungry pit bull. Oh boy, just imagine your precious old-school deck being completely chewed up by your dog.
Speaking of animals, dogs find a great ally in their natural enemy: Cats! There are not only many pictures of cats hogging our products. It seems that they are also attracted to them in "other ways".
Our Boulders are rock solid. This is not news. You can even stand on them (yes, we’ve tried several times!). But we have to be honest: Driving a car over a deck box is not usually part of our QA process.
Sure do. It was about 3 years ago, and the strap on my carrying bag broke, dumping my stuff in my apartment parking lot on my way to FNM. I thought I'd grabbed it all, but this Boulder was under the car, and I only noticed because I felt a small bump when I backed over it. pic.twitter.com/P5QWRb8io4

But people don't just report damaged products, house fires or burned cars. From time to time, our community tends to get creative in ways that make us marvel and laugh out loud.
Ok ok I see you, but have you considered this galaxy brain use for boulders my friends and I have had for a few years pic.twitter.com/GE0kMwcTFk

Fortunately, no one was seriously injured in all these crazy stories. With all the praise our products have received from our customers, we'd still rather no one lost their belongings in a fire or got into a car accident. Still, we're glad our products have been able to put a smile on people's faces in dark hours - or as Josh and Julie called it, be a "Diamond in the Rough."
Thanks again to everyone who shared this with us. If you've had similar experiences with our products, or just have another crazy idea for an alternative way to use them, please don't hesitate to contact us or tag us in your post. Stories like these are the fuel that drives us in our daily work when we learn that our products do what they are supposed to do - and sometimes even go beyond.
