Luis Scott-Vargas, also known as LSV, is a 37 year old Magic pro from Oakland, California and a member of Team CFBUltimateGuard.
Luis’s journey with Magic began in 1994, when he and his friend Seth bought a starter deck of Revised and two packs of The Dark each. Little did he know that this was a life-defining moment, as once he opened a Fire Elemental and Wrath of God, he was hooked.
While many Magic cards stick out to him, Luis’s favorite card is Shivan Dragon. To him, it represents everything that is cool about Magic: the art, flavor and the fact that it's an awesome Dragon.
Luis’s favorite Magic format of all time is Cube, specifically Vintage Cube, which combines the fun of draft with the power of Constructed while leading to so many unique interactions and novel game states. Luis could Cube forever, and when it’s on Magic Online, he certainly does.
Luis’s favorite memory in his Magic career is being inducted into the Hall of Fame with William “Huey” Jensen and Ben Stark. To him, this was the culmination of a ton of hard work and accomplishment, and being able to share that with two of his friends was awesome. To this day, Luis maintains that his Hall of Fame class is the best for 3v3 Draft.
When he’s not playing Magic, Luis enjoys cooking, constantly looking for new recipes to try (especially if it’s healthy) and Dungeons & Dragons, which he’s been able to play online. He’s also been enjoying the game Among Us. To him, trying to figure out who the imposter is (or trying to hide that you’re the imposter) with 10 other friends on Discord has led to some absurdly fun times. He even got some Among Us merch for Gaby Spartz’s birthday, as she enjoys playing it too.
